"time is on our side", she said
then she tossed the halo off her head
replaced it with some horns instead
and walked out of my life
i'd never thought of her that way
comparable to the queen of spades
always thought there'd come a day
when she would be my wife

it was tough to take in stride
my other half, my better side
but, i guess i loved, i guess she lied
and i guess it's for the best
all a life experience
pennies, thoughts, and little sense
still looking for some evidence
that it was for the best

don't let the prologue drag too long
don't screw up the words to your favorite song
make sure you are where you belong
or pack your bags and leave
don't lose yourself in double time
don't confuse a lemon with a lime
don't worry whether poems have a similarity of sounds at verse ends
don't lose your belief
