SCENE 57
SCENE 57-INT.-Becca's truck. Day.
Becca is waving bye to Derek as she pulls out of
the parking lot. He's standing by his van watching her
go. Becca blows him a kiss. Derek pretends to catch it
and touches his lips.
Papaw: I hate to ruin this moment for you, but something
has been on my mind.
Becca: What's that?
Papaw: My mind? Oh, it's this useless, dried up sponge.
Becca: No, I mean what has been on your mind?
Papaw: Oh. For the life of me, I can't figure out what a
doll like you is doing with a nut like Jimmy.
Becca: Jimmy?
Papaw: I guess I've forgotten his name. Whatever name you
call him by, he's still a nut.
Becca: Yeah, but he's so cute. And it must be said- he's
the best kisser in the world.
Papaw: You haven't had many contenders, have you?
Becca laughs.
Becca: I've had my fair share. Now for a tape. I've got tons
of mix tapes. We'll never have to hear the same song twice.
Papaw: Can't argue with that.
Becca shoves a cassette into the tape deck.
Music: "Remember(Walking in the Sand)" by the Shangri-Las.
Becca sings along. Papaw watches her.
