refinished

The sentiment of a wounded heart
is most genuine of all

The scars that ache in the cold of the night
only sharpen the focus of unkempt desire
and eventually give it a name

An acumen for this kind of rapport with
the ungilded emotions is what
melts away the varnish
strips away all the veneer
of the person we thought unlovable
and prepares us for refinishing
under the loving touch of
that special someone who sees
the truest character,
that unique grain of us,
and wants to show it off to the world

This wounded heart is the world
in orbit around the sun of your love
