Welcome Interference

A little extra work plagues my daily docket
And the phone bill is overdue
Loud bass from room 617
Mom calls with more bad news
Not enough clean clothes to last till tomorrow
And not enough quarters to eliminate the pile
The alarm says 8:30 am Math Test
Body says English analysis due too soon
Picante Chicken Ramen noodles and Hot Tea packets
and malnutrition looms in my future
And you in my present
to take me in your arms
and with a few simple kisses
melt away the demands of my inbox
to a mandatory hour of pure pleasure
and death by foot massage
and cook me real pasta
and make me stop and laugh at myself
I am not sure if I could ever
make time to take care of me and you too
But you handle my needs
beautifully
Every considerate selfless act
is a rose in the bouquet
of kindness that you send
everyday.
I will never again
say you do not love me enough.
