I wish time travel was possible
I would go back there
all the way back to 1972
to see you through each precious phase
of your life
I would be the embrace the warmth the solace
you needed
the kisses awake
the lullabies asleep
the birthday wishes come true
the sunrise seen from the top of the jungle gym
the sunset seen from the fishing boat on the Hudson
the car taking you home at the end
of an ecstatic evening deep in June
with Metallica on the radio
and radiant
city lights
in the rearview
