Touching The Stars...

It started in a chat.
You came in and took
   control of a situation
   gone beyond fun.

We talked for a bit,
   playfully, not serious,
   but a connection was made.

The bond grew stronger,
   and soon it was 'ut-oh's'
from ICQ in the middle of
the night
followed by four hour phone calls
and neurotic e-mails asking if I'm crazy.

I think of you constantly,
   never a moment's rest.
I write letters that you
   will never read.
I find you in songs on
   the radio, and poetry
   written by a lost soul.

I will fly around the
   world and back
just to see your smile in person.
And when the day comes
   (and I know it will)
when that connection
has faded to just a memory,
it will all have been worth it.

Because, with you, I touched the stars.
