A Vague Premonition

Stranger who knows me better
But sees so much less
Tells me maybe there is something wrong
A mismatch
A mistake
Takes me by surprise by revealing
Incredible accuracies
Vocalizes my deepest concerns
Till I realize
He has given words to my worries
And scared me with the reality
I couldn't face till it was stated aloud.
And this is why I can't write him love poems anymore
Or say 'I love you' without giving a regretful smile
Or kiss without distraction
A stranger sees the truth
Laughs at the facade of our holding hands
And sharing sheets and silly smiles
Then reads my poems
Tells me more truths about myself
Startles me to the point
I am not sure who I am
Or what his place is in my life.
