An Autumn Moment

Cool and crisp
a breeze to sweep the leaves---
wake up my sleepy love,
take my hand---
hush, not a word.
Let me take you to a place
a bowl---perhaps a hollow
where the wind does not reach
but the leaves---
oh the leaves are lush
and thick and crackle underfoot
like thick rich vellum paper.
I will sit you on a log
and there in the sunlight
let fall this hair
all around me,
i will look into your eyes
and find the buttons of this shirt,
not silk, nor satin
but humble well worn cotton
that is soft to the touch
and i will just get them open
and my hands will betray me
because the hunger in your eyes,
the wanting
the need
amplified what echoed inside me.
Blood pounding in my ears
my throat---
and lower
God---I want you,
want to lay me down
in the thick of leaves
and let you take me
with the scent of fall
and the scent of me
sunlight blazing
blue sky burning
oh yes love---
there
here
my voice
a sweet call
flushing out a pheasent
making us laugh
till our breath catches again,
oh love
oh love
ah...
i love you in sun
moon
or middle night.
But always
I will love you in Autumn.
