Goodbye

Goodbye is a word I hate,
It's a word that cuts like a knife,
Goodbye is a word which instills lonliness.
Goodbye to my heart as it breaks,
Goodbye to my soul as it aches,
I thought for a brief moment,
That goodbye was a word you'd never say,
But goodbye came just a few months away,
Goodbye to the moments you held me so dear,
Goodbye to the sweet kisses you would lie on my ear,
Goodbye to the whispers that seemed oh so clear,
Goodbye to my dreams, my hopes in the night,
Goodbye to what I used to fight,
Goodbye to the memories I wish to go away,
Goodbye to begging you to stay,
Goodbye to this glistening tear on my cheek,
Goodbye to my prayers oh so meek,
Goodbye is a word that sounded unclear,
Goodbye is a word I never thought I would hear.
