American Woman

I would never walk behind anyone
Or ride in the back with the goats
I’d be on the hood of the truck
Dancing like crazy
Going through the desert
Waving my left hand in uplifted gesture
In my short shorts and t-shirt that reads
      R-E-S-P-E-C-T   (Yeah Aretha)
           But
If I had to conform
I would know the dance
Of seven veils so well
It would be legendary
The cost to get into my tent
Full of red Persian carpets
Would be the riches of oil
The power of kings
           Then
Seeing you in your cute camouflage
Have you kidnapped to my tent
Dance on your mind
Till you kidnapped me
Took me to The Land Of The Free
Where I could go through the desert
Driving the damn truck
Laughing and loving you.  (I Love You Darlin!)
