the beauty

brilliant day so bright clear
smell of spring so filling the air
the meadows flowers opening ripe
as she sat to drink in these treasures
he found her this winter
wandering lost
slowly freezing her tears
as she stumbled without care
kept her warm throughout the night
brought her home the next day
and every week since
bringing berries fresh
in the middle of winter
flowers as winter died
fruits when trees had
jus started bloom
he was truly her wonder
and today was the day
that he had promised
to come for her
all morning long
the people had come
to pay their respects
before fleeing to the castle
she jiggled her silver chain
so tight to her ankle
tighter yet to its stake
but yet she felt so confident
with a boom she more felt then heard
the castles gates closed behind
yet she waited with a smile
she knew he would come
now the animals fled
she was not noticed
as the rabbit ,squirrel
fox and bear raced
shoulders together away
her excitement barely contained
for she knew he was on his way
there in the east the birds did fly
growls and roars could be heard
as a tremendous beast made its way
to the close environs of the castle
trees groaned gave up their strength
as an immense weight ground them aside
standing now she watched
as an enormous shadow
collapsed the wall of trees afore her
to this sight the villagers screamed in horror
from high atop castle walls
for the dragon was apon them
80 foot from tip to tail
rainbows ran its midnight scales
razor claws of whitest hue
longer than a farmers scythe
to this she stood her ground
drunk as always to its beauty
for this her friend had come at last
