mapmaker, mapmaker, make me a map

open up my favorite book to read between the lines
of someone elses mind
whom i know could positively relate with mine
wade around in there for quite some time
catch a question floating by
take a stab at it
pin it to the bound spine
it just wiggles there
gasping air
good god i hope it's dying...

which way to lover's lane?

i think i'm directly under it
and it's a very heavy thing
folks smooch up there
it sucks down here
we have a little song to keep our spirits up:

"spiders and dirt
spiders and dirt
don't matter how you got here
just matters that you're hurt
and that doesn't matter much
'cause it's likely to get worse
your voice is hoarse, of course of course
your mind is blank, thank you thank you
cough cough, turn the light off
break in stride
be swept aside
or underneath a rug
doesn't matter where your swept
or who's sweeper your caught up in
the biggest things that matters here
are the bragging rights of nothing
don't dare look up
it'll fill your cup with the drippings off the shoes
of someone trying to squash you
just hide amidst the granite chunks
the limestone and the chert
and learn to love the spiders and the dirt"

i think the oompa loompas taught us that during a protest rally
they were protesting "inexcusable spideriferousness"
those guys don't make sense
they taught me everything i know
like how to never ask questions
and never not know the answers

which way to lover's lane?

i think it went thattaway--------->keep going-------->keep going------>keep going------->i know this seems futile, but keep going-------->sing the "spiders and dirt" song to pass the time-------->keep going......o.k., shush, it's right over here behind this monster...*gulp*...MONSTER?!?...go back<----GET OUT OF HERE!!!!...what?, do you want to get killed?...run...RUN...like the whiney wind...run...o.k., i think we're saf*AHHHHHHH!!!*...run run run...i'm sorry, really, nobody told me there was a monster

which way to lover's lane?

um, i'm not really sure you can get there from here
