Silverbird

Silverbird
The great silver bird takes flight
Climbing high into the night
Higher and higher into the blackness of night,
The seat beside me empty,
My heart in pain,
The one I love must remain,
Alone in her world as I in mine,
We will love again and withstand the test of time.

Writing poetry is not something I have ever done. My heart felt so heavy
I just felt the need to try and put something in writing. I have no doubt others
have experienced similar feelings, this is my amateur attempt at expressing
those feelings and sharing them with others.

I wrote this to a girl, now a woman whom I had not seen in over 33 years
on the airplane as I was returning to the west coast from the east
coast.
Our love for each other as teenagers has truly withstood the test of time and
will continue now that we have found each other again.

Respectfully submitted,

Jim H.
