Spin Cycle

I washed my watch today
Got it full of suds
Went through the wringer
Spin cycle once
Rinsed
Spun round again
It wasn't a fancy expensive watch
Like the one I had carelessly lost
But a smart, dependable, special one
That I had found one night
And today absentmindedly
Tossed into the machine
When I found the mistake
I held it to my ear
Cupped it in my hand
Watched the hand move round full circle
So happy, I held it to my heart
Whew, saved
At that moment I realized
It was the same with us
It was almost a year now
Through the wash and
Spin cycle we had been
And now full circle
The hands of time moved round
And we had been saved
By friendship and care
Spun slowly
And yes,
Saved by love.
