Texas is such a glittering body of land
You could piece yourself together
just watching the place where the land meets the sky
lights shimmering in sunken canyons of the town bellow

Somehow I just don't fit in with the glamorous Texas girls
and their cowboy hats
I just don't know about your drive-in movies
about the early morning tumbleweeds dancing over rusty traintacks
Somehow I just don't fit in with your highspeed car crashes
the beautifulo highways stretching across the state
I don't wear yellow roses in my hair
or speak like you do
I just don't know where to find the other half of your rib
tucked neatly under the carborator
the piece slipped aside the engine when you total your firebird
and need the dry hands of this eastcoast stranger
