Fountain of Youth

Ponce De Leon was wrong
There is no fountain of youth
At least, not a pool to drink from
In order to be transported back

But I have discovered something
That returns me to my carefree days
Even if the moments are fleeting at best

Middle age begs it and when I was young
I couldn’t be concerned about living forever
I was living for now and youth means nothing
To the young as money means nothing to the rich

But now I crave it like an addict
Clinging to the moments and searching out a new hit

I’m sure I’m not the first to discover it
And until you are in need you can’t understand
How it feels when you experience
the flirtations from the opposite sex

It takes me back to my youth at light-speed
And I relish the high as much as a love induced climax
A glance, a smile
A chat
Says so much to me now
When I need it the most
