09. Adamsong

Waterfall of massive proportions, streaming
On down dried skin,
He leaned against a stop sign
With knives, in his back
He tossed her pennies with his right hand
And with his left he fiddled with his knobs
Adjusting air pressure suits and
Adjusting love
He tuned it out until he cradled
Baby's breath in hand
Rice thrown at weddings...
He was Adam Man

And the glass that held him back
His mask was fogged up
He released the seal
Not afraid to die but still...
He held his breath
He panicked...
Finally gave in
Sucked in the oxygen
It was fine to him...
His face regained color
Along with his life, he'd sing

"No more monochrome"
"No more astro-flights"
"Astronaut cancelled"
"Astro-not tonight"
