Never on Sunday

You knew that I had
To yank the chain
Ring the chimes one more time
This gingerbread house is so
Hot that the sugarplums are
Complaining that I have the
Oven turned up way too high.
They say I am driving them crazy
Well darn, isn’t that what love
Does, drive you crazy till you
Can’t think straight.
My gingerbread man is so delicious
(And I don’t share) Maybe this oven
Heat is going to my head too.
So today I am going to get out the jam
Make sweet butter dough
Roll it in balls, then in nuts
Put my finger in the center and press
Then fill with the richest of jams
And bake till lightly brown,
Oh my, I’m doing it again
You don’t want to nibble round these
You lick the center clean and
My goodness, it’s Sunday too.
