I Can Only Imagine

I can only imagine
What it's like
To be her
I can only wonder
What she must go through
I can only guess
That she is wounded
But I know
That she knows
And I'm sorry
To have hurt her
To have wounded her
Like I must have
But, she'll never know
How sorry I feel
That I do have a conscience
After all
It's just too soft-spoken
And often absent
She'll never know my name
She'll never know my face
And she'll never know
I love him
Beyond all words
But, she knows how he loves me
She knows by that look
In his eyes
Everytime he leaves her
Everytime he rushs out
In the early morning light
Wouldn't want to be
Late for work
I wonder if she thinks of
When her kisses made him late
But now he doesn't even
Have time for coffee
And she sees that look
When he slinks in late at night
While she hides those tears
And pretends to be asleep
I can only grieve
In my own way
For the pain I put her through
That he and I put her through
And she can only think
That I'm heartless
She can only hypothsize
That I am cold, unfeeling...
And she can only guess
What I look like
And she can only ponder
What I am like
And she can only wonder if tonight
Will be the night
He won't come home
And, as I cry
For her
For this
For me
For my guilt
For everything
Named and un-named
I can only imagine
How she must feel
