Medley

the scratch on my left hand burns
and my neck aches as I file insurance claims
eight hours each day
...my thoughts are whirling around dangerously
everything is mostly white roses and pinwheels
but like a true neurotic bipolar Aquarian on the cusp of Pisces
I can't let go and enjoy the blooming and turning
and fireworks burning new designs in my sky
I scream WHY and try too hard to predict the cards
before they fall
I'm getting married in a week
and that is not all
I tried to call a ghost
I toasted a dead name with flat wine
I'll lose my name soon
and I'll have an electric can opener for the kitchen
and new sheets for the bed
but my head is haunted
and I'm suspicious of the superstitious
but just in case
I'll wear white lace
and no makeup on my face except for cherry red lipstick
and base and powder
the wind is getting louder but it won't blow me away
because I see in the mirror
that I'm here
to stay.
