Rings of Fire

Fire, cool flames light my hand
graced by a ring of rainbow regard,
love cast in warm metal
and set with stones
that catch the light
and toss it back at you.

Another ring---
it's twin in spirit
is on your sleeping hand,
the three sides softly shining
and when you drank in it's flame,
did you note the delta
that I sent with my love?

It is not that we can only speak
the language of flesh---
but rather that you have touched me so deeply
with such profound love,
that the Delta becomes more---
not a symbol of sex,
but a sacred icon...

The rings call us to worship,
and it is a quiet truth
that sounds deeply.
A million tokens we could have offered each other,
unspoken,
unplanned,
but we chose the same token,
one of gold
one of silver
both in stones of dancing spirit
that no diamond could claim.

More than love.
More than bliss.
Come my love,
dance with me
ring within ring
in this circle or fire.
