The Dance

You and I Honey
Why we are simply two of a kind.
Wallflowers staring out at the dance floor
Afraid to fall just one more time.

But tonight the music’s calling my name
Yes – I can see you feel it too.
And there’s no one here tonight
I’d rather dance with more than you.

We could be young and reckless
Like some of those couples over there.
Or we could let Life pass us by
Voyeurs content to sit and stare.

You shouldn’t be afraid to stumble
I’ll be right there with you on that floor.
We can do a lap around friendship’s circle
Or perhaps we’ll discover something more.

Here’s my hand – You lead, I’ll follow
I have but one condition that I ask.
When the song in our hearts begins to play
You leave all your ghosts in the past.

Because we’ve both had our share of partners
And too well we’ve learned The Dance.
So tell me Love – do we sit this one out
Or shall we take a chance?

I’m so tired of just sitting here … I wanna Dance!
