Murayama-San

Murayama-San

We’ve passed this way before,
you and I,
and in our wandering
renamed commitment friendship
labeled love a common bond,
diguised it
as a fleeting instance
that in recall, warms us in the chill
of a lonelier night.
But sometimes,
my face cupped gentle in your hands
and lifted to meet your eyes,
I’m thunderstruck
by the intensity
of what’s revealed there,
the labels in which love was cloaked
whispered away by
the honesty in your gaze
and I’m caught,
frozen in a moment of such sheer emotion
oh love,
I scarce can breathe.
