standing heat felt close at others
as they quietly talk of each futures plan
breath of air
stirring hair
on back of neck
as he leaned over
to turn her page

finger tips again
now soft on face
to remove an arrant lock of hair
lock of gaze for instant more
turn again his eyes down
bland of face and mean
playing game of interest
knowing she knows his game
waiting for that final instant
one word no that awaits her lips
to be used the instant she's positive of he
