years too far
time held passing close
in silent space i hold you still
if ever had a vision truth
it's this one i behold in you
dancing waves of earthen time
hold me yet transfixed
one small moment taken, held
a small fancy come to pass
strong enough to call a halt
to ever advancing age
as i sit and wonder at this truth
years slip from my side
till i reach a time of hope and promise
and in this lies the hurt
far too much, too far, and promises never kept
time has advanced carrying me along
whirling away my youth
and in age i sit and am transfixed
by one so beautiful in youth
