Welcome to the October/Halloween Blender!
This month's Blender Feature is something a bit different: the results of a little competition our own Galadrial put together on the Blender Board. The challenge: to write a lovenote to a famous monster. There was a good set of entries, and Gala's favorites (along with "the people's choice") are available here.
Last month was another good month for new works, as you can see by the front page picks below.
Have a great month, and try not to eat too many Snickers bars...

Allure
- deevaa
Painting and a poem. Right now, there's just something about
concept of gold leaf that captures my imagination.
Shoestrings
- CryingShame58
More self-indulgent nostalgia from the Blender-Keeper:
the woman of K & R carousel
taught me how to tie
Converse 'Chucks'
so they wouldn't come undone.
I've since forgotten the technique, and that type of shoe now cripples
my feet anyway.
One breath suicide
- Stephen
Too many adjectives
("horrible phone"/"hideous ring") but at its core a good dark rant.
My riddle is solved
- Me aka Niki
Connecting the dots.
left right...left..left...left
- TJ Holland
A clever play on the old military phonetic alphabet.
the elder blossom's request
- Galadrial
I love the opening four lines of this musical little number.
Even after
- Savannah Haze
Recently found scrawled on a napkin from two years back.
Grace My Mind
- Ali
Small song of strength.
of fantasy
- jack
Nursery rhymes for these times.
PhOnE CaLLs
- TaintedOne
Something about the detail of a "$2.99 phone"...
I have an odd sentimental attachment to the black GE phone I used
in college, and for a few years after.
together or not...
- Jon
Jon's submitted well over 500 works to the Blender over the past year...this one is good in its reserve.
drifter
- Lydia
An odd, almost surreal, piece, but evocative.
Be Mused
- Briana Kassia
A musing on his inspiration.
Again, at Last
- Just Some Girl
I love the homage to nostalgia of the final stanza of this piece.
Rambling 3
- splatipus
Life as a book.
THIS SHELL: Inside Out
- Elaine Loraine d'Orgain aka RennieLorca.
Compost has been much on my mind lately. Time flies like an arrow, and
Fruit flies like a banana, indeed.
For Erica
Oh, Flash!
Two pop-culture-aware pieces by Misti
A letter of thanks to Erica Jong, and a fan letter to
Flash Gordon
as played by Sam J. Jones.
The Monster's Ball
Gala's Halloween Blender Competition.
Heart on Sleeve Corner
578 more heartsongs sent to the Blender last month.
The Blender Board
Read and Post Comments.
