The Blender Survey Question

Are the holidays a time to become closer with the one you love, or does the frenzy tend to promote the opposite effect?
SterlingRose Holidays seem to be the time
when people miss lost loved ones
the most.

The holidays bring quiet desperation
into the air - as people try to purchase
more than they can afford - and try to capture
the "Most Merry" and "Happiest Happy" and
often come away with an empty feeling of
fake forced feelings.

Family is pressured and relationships
are raped during holiday times -
with all the pressure to be happy,
purchase enough, and fit everything into
one day of pure pretense.

I think the holidays put a lot of pressure
on everyone - except those that don't celebrate
them.

:-(

However, on the upside -
The colder weather is an excellent reason
to cuddle and keep warm together.

Two together can stay warmer than one alone.

:-)
CryingShame58 No matter how good or bad my life is going during the holidays, I focus what the true meaning of the holidays represent. I wrote an article (similar to this board survey question) that was published in my local paper. I attempt to spread good cheer throughout the year, but sometimes it isn't as contagious as I would prefer. Some of my loved ones have the tendency to be depressed during the holidays. I have found that a tender touch, sweet smile and an encouraging word can cause a positive affect to a loved one or stranger.
CryingShame58 BTW...YES, the holidays brought me closer with my hubby...Two years ago my hubby and I were separated. The true meaning of Christmas, our traditions, and our passion brought us to reconcile. We have been married over 25 years.
Kirk I dunno. I guess it all kind of evens out.
Misti There is always stress because we don't have a lot of money but I love buying gifts for people. Then there's the fact that my husband's family is in New York and my family is in Texas. We've argued a lot this past month over Christmas but now we're having fun with it. My grandfather is racist, which is NOT funny, but I bought a box of Christmas cards at Thrift Town that feature a black Santa Claus (instead of the usual pink Santa Claus)and black children. I'm going to send one to my grandparents and include a line or two from The Color Purple or one of Malcolm X's speeches. My grandfather's blood pressure may go up but oh well. What a sad thing to get pissed about. Oh, and we're going to have our photo taken at Wal-Mart. I want to buy a toy monkey to hold in the picture and write,"Merry Chrimbo! Love, Kim Wu and Cookie Bear and Koko Loko."
Muryan I tend to fall for guys who leave during the holidays (meaning Christmas, really) and during that time of separation they tend to lose interest. I've had only one boyfriend on Valentines day... so... I guess that the Holidays tend to drive them away for me... and that is really sad.
Violet I love the holidays, but they seem to stress things for us. I (like Misti) always want to buy really nice presents for people, and my husband has to remind me that we "can't afford" to do so... and then things get tense. Then, there's the chaos of crowds and shopping malls. However, I love sleighbells and pine needles and presents and carols. So, It ends up pretty even I'd say.
Injun Joe I prefer cruising through the holidays watching porn with a hooker... hahahahaha! No, seriously... if you are lucky enough to be in a relationship during the holidays, it can be a very special time.
Cookiedough Silly Girl~
