"I'll love you forever," he said. He pulled her so close she had to push him away just so she cuold breathe. "I've heard that before and you know that it still hurts," she sighed, "show me, don't just make empty promises." Empty? He thought, about it and truly he had seen his share of forgotten 'I love yous' and broken hearts. His promises, however, have always been remembered. "I love you, can I promise you that?" He regretfully looked up, as soon as his eyes met hers he knew the answer. "Don't you love me too?" She smiled almost a ridicilous 'your and idiot' smile and tears began to stream down her cheek. "With all my heart I love you, but tomorrow is another day and who knows who I will meet and what may happen." Her gental releasing of tears had now evolved into a moderate sobing. "No, I will not make you promises, or let you make me promises. For promises can be broken, but words, words can be taken back." He looked at her with almost with disgust that someone so beautiful and eager to fall in lve could be so afraid. "Either way you could get hurt." "Yes, but adding lies and unfulfilled hopes doesn't ever help the situtation. I love you I do and that's all that needs to be said." She lowered her eyes, embarassed by her slowly increasing volume. "I love you too." He wiped her face with his tender touch, and kissed her softly on the lips. She looked up and with great relief held him close. "I love you," she whispered. |
