Late Night Drowning

Late into the night I listen,
the sound of a distant train whistle
is drowned out by the ocean,
and the ocean is you...

the sound of your heart in my ear,
the touch of your breath on my neck,
the caress of your fingers on my cheek
slowly draws love as I sleep

sheets wrapped around us
a cocoon around our love,
their cool softness against the heat of our bodies
lying damp from the sweat of accepting your love,
the feeling of one

lost together in your eyes
melding as the rhythm matches between two
I drink your kisses like water,
taste your neck laid bare to my lips,
skin to mine,
almost too hot to touch

Sleeping souls in the aftermath
of slow and easy
to push and shove,
give and take

we spend pent up energy,
a release in a shooting star's light in my head
which burns for your desire

smoke smolders still as silent embers burn
warmth for tomorrow,
a feeling of complete

scatters ashes to the wind through the window
cleanses souls of the soot and grime
left from days of grind

leaving the salt of tears and sweat
that takes me to your ocean,
you drown out the world around
as I dream of your heart

your hand in mine takes us there
to walk on the shores of our love,
footprints in the sand through the long night
trace our path through the past,
following the stars brings us home again....
