Crying the Blues

Blue is a color, vast as the sea
Bright as the sky above
Deep as the sapphire in someones eyes
In the throes of passionate love

Aquamarine splashes tropical isles
Cobalt's collection of glass
Powder blue booties, touch tiny feet
Torquoise, of bluish-green grass

Navy-blue fashion, a mariner's delight
Crisp as a uniform's strut
Royal-blue color, aristocrat's bleed
When V. I. P. veins have been cut

Baby blue cars, with white leather seats
Golden treasures, we hold from the past
Sky-blue sky-writers, advertise goods
As long as the smoke patterns last

Faded blue-jeans of comfort and ease
a trademark of carefree bright days
Worn by the masses, tight on their asses
or baggy society's craze

With all the positive aspects of blue
As listed above, and there's more
It's hard to imagine, "Crying the blues"
An expression where hearts and tears pour

Depression and sadness depicted as "blues"
Strummed to a pitiful woe
Singing the blues with fervent crescendo
When feelings are sorrowful low

Somebody done - somebody wrong
And so, they're crying the blues
Their tears might fill an ocean or sea
The color of beautiful hues.
