To love, darkest love

This winding road, so familiar, so haunting
At first golden, in its mystery and wonder
Soon turns to slippery shale in the lonely moonlight

In this carnival of emotions, the clowns wear twisted smiles for me.
Dreams, as if dipped in opiate fog flow through me, almost nightmares
As if acrobats and magicians were weaving a glistening chaos all around

Dressed in haphazard finery they dance to different waltzes
They clash within my mind, a cacophony of silent voices
Some to be with you, others to escape, and some simply to understand.

To love, darkest love
