Sex is simple Easily obtained Easily enjoyed Easily completed Fleeting ecstasy Spasm of pleasure And on we go. Love is so much trickier Feared because it binds Sought because it frees Denied if not perfect Perfect only in abandon Oft abandoned for a fantasy Fantastic when truly found If only love were as simple as sex To find and accept and embrace . . . But no. We value what is rare, what is hard-fought and won. Were true love that simple, it would be cheap. Easy to get and easier still to dispose of Like so much simple sex. |
