There was a split second in time when you looked into my eyes that i saw what makes us complete Your eyes were so tender as you traced the curve of my lips. It made me want to say what I've been afraid of telling you all this time. And as I opened my mouth to speak you covered it with your lips erasing all conscious thought and bringing forth a sweet sense of fire And you lay there in my arms as night began to fall around us I watched you breathe, your mouth twitching almost into a smile I wondered if you had felt the same; had almost said the words, but then you sat up and smiled sweetly and I fell prey to your eyes once more I flung my arms about your neck and seized your mouth in a fiery kiss, struggling against the tears that threatened to fall, hoping you would think it was only wild abandon, and not see my frustration. I should have realized you would know; that you would see the change in my smile I should have guessed that I wasn't alone; that you had been fighting the urge as well. With the last embrace of the evening you opened your mouth and the phrase came forth. And though I wasn't completely shocked I could not breathe, all I could do was smile I only hope you heard me whisper it back before I buried my face in your chest to hide my first shuddering breath of the three minutes it took me to move. |
