I watch her, when others may not take notice. Sometimes when she is laughing, she suddenly stops and her smile turns into a frown, and although she remains silent, I know what she is doing, she is thinking of him, how she wishes he was right there beside her at that very moment, and of memories with him that are old, but not forgotten. She holds back her tears, and resumes acting interested in the ongoing conversation, when all along what she really wants is to be alone to unleash them... I notice, because it breaks my heart to see her like this, so sad and miserable, among friends, yet so lonely! I know... because I felt that way, I felt that way every second of every hour of every day... we weren't together and I will never forget the pain, that only one person could take away. |
