Afterglow

the sunrise came fast
without a blink
of salutation

as the sun tore slits in cumulus cloudings
heaven began to descend upon the earth
In each ray I saw your smile
The same smile that brought spring
attached to the undercarriage
of its dazzling wings
It melted icebergs
yet still I shiver
without a continuous furnace
of effervescent love

I recollect how you cried
about the little things
trampled flowers were distinctly callous
For their beauty was rare
in your sight

You looked at me
tear-stained cheeks
your eyes shined
hazelnut simplicity
with undeniable spirit

shimmering in half-light
dispensing dreams
of utopian likeness

the sunset comes with leisure
you, the afterglow
