Sunset Blaze

The box and its now empty contents
lay sprawled
on the bathroom counter

Evidence of my actions
carelessly left out,
waiting to be discovered

The gloves and all my tools,
stained deep red
and broadcasting the crime

I sit in fear,
watching and waiting for you
to come home and find me

Find me as a different person
than the one you left
only hours ago

Thoughts of the consequences
race through my mind,
and I wonder if we'll change

If you can love me
despite what I've done,
and I pray that you will

The door slowly opens
causing my heart to race
at a terrifying pace

Your eyes meet mine
in a questioning glance
and procede to survey the room

Reading the box,
you seem to murmer
something about "sunset blaze"

After a moment that felt like forever,
your eyebrows raise,
and you begin to speak,

"Well, this isn't exactly what I expected to come home to."
"I know." My eyes lower to the tiled floor.
"Well, it's certainly different," he says and lowers himself to kiss me on the cheek then continues,
"I love you," he whispers gently as his fingers softly run through my freshly dyed locks of red.
