To My Wife

Sitting here today with you wife
As happy as a man can be,
Comes a vision of long, long ago wife
And in memory I can see

A sweet face framed in the midnight
Of her hair -- and such glorious eyes --
A flame with a tender lovelight
In who's wonderous depts there lies

A story as old as creation
And as sweet as the breath of a rose
That makes life one long re-creation
Filled with joy no other heart knows.

Red lips made only for kisses,
And oh such a form to caress,
Earth holds no other such blisses
None other complete happiness.

You came to me long ago dear one,
In a vision so real it seemed
That my heart was broken -- life undone--
When I knew 'twas only a dream.

But my heart led me on straight to you
As the needle returns to the pole --
And only God knows how I love you,
Dear Dream Woman of my soul.
