I held this love in my greedy hands clutching it as a child would a favorite, unshareable toy. I could not allow another man entry into a paradise meant for me. I could not risk losing you. I told you a lie a monstrous tale to keep you bound to me. And though I hurt you it was justified, in my mind, by my instinct for survival.
