"Oh no are we going to have another conversation about the existence of your God?" "No, not conversation, an argument." she replied "Look, it's a beautiful night. The stars are out, the tempeture is just right, so, why ruin tonight with an argument over religion?" "Just hear me out." "Fine." "Okay name something you love. Something or someone you love more than anything in your life." "You, I love you." "Okay then prove it." "What?" "If you love me more than anything in this world, then prove to me right now that you do love me." "I can't...I just do.." "You can't prove that?" "No it's not that...it's just...I know I love you, it's just something you can't prove, it's something I just know." She smiled. I just stared at her, not able to say a word. She just smiled back and grasped my hand. "I love you too, the stars they really are beautiful tonight." she said. and all of a sudden I understood. |
