My Dearest You 8/3/02 Last night, I laid with the stereo on. Searching for solace in the songs that were once ours. The illumination from the stereo provided a glow that filled the room. As I tossed and turned I noticed a shadow laid beside me. It was my own silhouette cast on the wall. Each crevice and curve complementing my shape and the contour of my blanket. Just as you once did. Every indent, every void. I could not help but pretend it was your body lying beside me. The wall I faced through the night was no longer the wall. I fell asleep watching you lay, I fell asleep with a constant admiration. I slept well last night unlike all my nights since I left. But I dare not tell you another word from my heart. Perhaps tonight I will leave the stereo on again. Me |
