ODE TO A TOAD

ODE TO A TOAD

I remember your first day at the pond.
I swooned at your deep bass croak.
What big feet you had, Mr. Froggie.
Lost in your eyes -- what size!
All us gals wanted your attention!

Assured warts weren't contagious,
I imagined being french-kissed by
those lips -- THOSE LIPS!
I imagined frog to prince kisses.
In this drink, WHAT was I thinking?

Like your mom could pick you out,
she told you'd been a cute tadpole.
But she never stuck around to learn
how your cute Rib-bbbbits-n-Kisses
are daily packaged and quickly sold.

For you, unlike our other kind frogs,
it's always "easy being green."
Because, according to the warrant,
ya stole some old leprechaun's gold.
You're a few croaks shy of a load!

You ain't no prince -- you're a toad!
But I won't cry long, not this lass.
Catch you on the next pass ...
There are better froggie dates
waiting for a Miss Largemouth Bass.
