Blankets and Lips

By your side
I will abide
Until the sky
Begins to pry

(Open)

Pools of doubt
Causing the shouts
To stand up
And be numbered
When distant retrospection
Is the framework for tearful smiles

I seek not
To sink below
Less watery depths
Devour my soul

The shining sun
Makes love become
A precious gem
Paling envious whims
To treasure on earth
Beyond measure or worth
To grasp love
As an untarnished dove
Holding wings tight
Constricting its flight
Would imprison the heart
Once quick to depart
On a voyage of torn streets
And wired heartbeats

A shock to the senses
Is what she dispenses
When her touch robs my speech
With stars that seem in reach
And her eyes filter my sight
With angels emitting celestial light

By your side
I will abide
Whilst the clouds
Cover with shroud

(Closed)

Down the floodgates
And premature heartbreak
To stand strong
In the midst of snowfall
And hail which wails itself
On a world of glacial blankets
And chapped, frostbitten lips
