My friend told me that he overheard my parents saying the other day that they didn't like my fiance. I was not sad, actually, I was glad and relieved. My parents are too vain, materialistic, obsessed with what everyone else thinks about them. My parents are constantly living their lives out in front of an imaginary and fictional audience they have created. I am glad that my parents don't like my fiance because that means that she doesn't share any of the same qualities that they posses. She is not like them. She is the opposite and we will not live out our lives the same way they have. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents I just don't like the kind of people they are. I grew up in their household, but I was not raised there. |
