Why I read you

I wish for emotional illiteracy
ignorance of your dancing face.
I wish for tone deafness in context
In times when your spoken music
slides low and weeps like the Blues.
I would only to hear happy/dumb sugar
blitheness in the notes of your speech.

Then again... a glucose communication
Soothes palates and rots soul

When I hear your lidded sorrow
It ekes out my tears at each tune.
...Our roots are a knitted lattice.
This want of inscience suggest
That I cower like the backdrop
Of these two bodies that make one song
I am the dissenting murmur of our heart

No... I wish for all your melodies
or arms carried as far as voices.

If not to cure any pain you may have
Then to lessen any blow you may take.
