Planetarium

The Moon called up Venus
Said "Heard you what Mars said?"
Venus said, "Why, no.
Last I heard, Mars was dead."
The Moon said "No, not true.
Twas only his heart stopped beating
When he last laid eyes on you."
Venus said, "Then tell me, Moon,
What words of love, war and doom?"
The Moon recited Mars' tirade
Without further ado.
"He said that planet Mercury
Was dancing with the Sun
And Jupiter and Saturn
Had never had so much fun.
And the strangest thing indeed
That you'd never guess was true:
Together Neptune and Uranus
Turned Pluto into a prude!"
This disconcerted Venus,
For Neptune had tried to seduce
With vim words of flattery
When Mars last lost his fuse.
"I'll not be jealous," she spoke
"If what you say is true,
Time will bring Mars back to me
But on this, let him chew.
If he sees me and says naught,
How will I know if it's trickery
That brought you to me now?
For this might be chicanery!"
The Moon replied, "O Venus,
You must believe this vow.
Mars never loved another
And only had eyes for thou."
