stand up

Sometimes I wish I was a stand-up comic, I'm good at standing in front of a group of people; however, making them laugh is a talent I'll never have.  Maybe I could talk in a Filipino accent and make fun of my dad for being Filipino, but playing the race card is always the easiest way out, and I haven't taken the easy way out since 8th grade gym class (by faking an injury).  Maybe I could read some of my older love poems and make the audience laugh by how seriously I took myself, and my own immature emotions.

When I think about it hopeless romantic/love poets and stand-up comics are not all that different.  Most stand-up comics talk about relationships probably even more than poets do and both are probably trying to stir the same emotion and effects out of an audience like laughter, hope, justice, satire and sadness.  I think comics tell it (love) the way it is and poets talk about how love should be.

I'm probably dead wrong.  I wouldn't make a great stand-up comic and I don't think I make a good poet either.

Maybe I can be a rapper...
