Tell The Truth

Ain't no escapin', baby; 'cause right here, right now got to tell me what you mean,
Done locked the door, turned out the lights; some revelations are best left unseen.
Just you and me now, way it's always been, and don't you worry none, I ain't mad;
But this the only way I get my hands on the information everyone else already had.
See, I learned somethin' 'bout me from someone else through you, or so they said,
And if I remember it right, halves that been told is just about the worst part instead.

Imagine almost everyone know my business now, open my doors, world come on in,
Good luck findin' seat in my livin' area, now you excuse me, crowd want me to begin.
Not sure what you want me to do 'cept the usual stuff, you know, my day in, day out,
If you really lookin' for top-drawer entertainment, I suppose I could jump and shout.
Told you before you arrive I wasn't all the wags were dogged to make this out to be,
Hadn't ever had no success performin' for anyone else; always was best at bein' me.

Some out there like to be in the middle of it; others like watchin', win, place or show,
But Lord save me I don't wanna hear about my private life from public I hardly know.
I got nothin' to hide, but what kinda picture you get when negatives are overexposed?
Like neon sign overhead, but you day late and dollar short 'cause peep show's closed.
Stay open all night 'til early mornin' light, but that's for me to know and all you to not,
To tell the truth, even their wildest of fantasies can't compare to tamest times I forgot.
