Butterflies

I look forward to a life with you.

You always say that although we love each other, nothing in this world is guaranteed.  But regardless of what fate may hand us, I look forward to a life with you.

It’s amazing how a year and a half later, I still count the hours until I get to see you again.  The butterflies in my tummy never faded, the giggles never subsided, and my girlish crush on you will last until we’re both withered and old.

But what amazes me more is the fact that no matter how many times I’ve seen you in your same brown shoes, same dark-washed jeans, same perfectly gelled hair, it still feels like the first time we met.  Do you remember that night?  We sat next to each other, in a coffee shop near my old house, talking about chocolate and sex- my two favourite things in the world.  Then you went home and told my best friend how hot I am.  I was so happy and excited and flattered at the same time.  And the same fluttery feeling of nervousness, excitement and passion rolled into one still flitters inside of me when I see you walk through my door.

That night, tonight, tomorrow- that feeling will never fade.

So I look forward to every moment with you.  I look forward to spending a lazy Wednesday evening, cuddling on my single bed.  I look forward to our crazy date nights when you sweep me off my feet and take my dancing in the midst of suburban bliss.  I look forward to the sad moments, the happy moments, the day when we’ll finally get on each other’s nerves.

But what I look forward to the most is a lifetime of butterflies.

Because I know that if I am lucky enough to spend a lifetime with you, the same butterflies will never fade away.
