It was a late summer morn, dipped in the late gold of
august, when the star of awakening still graced the earth
with her warm, gossamer, decadence, but the early, misty,
air still held a slightly damp chill to it.

She was overcome that day with the joy of wearing that
soft piece of cloth, just the idea of being able to drape
it over her naked flesh made her feel like a child again,
a beautiful, wide eyed, child. It was a brilliant emerald
green with a sparkling trim and laced up tightly in the
shapely, accentuating, bodice. The long ivory chemise that
lied underneath held the comfort of a dressing gown, but
swept the sandy floor with the elegance of a Grecian toga.
It billowed at the wrist length sleeves and dipped low to
reveal a full pallid breast, slightly raised with goose
flesh from the fresh morning dew. It's cotton folds softly
peeked through the open seams of the jewel toned overdress,
providing an elegant contrast set by a timeless
   simplicity.

The depth of the color complimented the sea of watercolor
swimming within her large, darkly lined, hazel eyes making
them appear even larger and mesmerizing like the
gaze of an exotic feline. Her hair was long and chestnut
toned but was lit like a candle by a touch of wine colored
flame. It's waves were soft and sweeping like rising heat
in mid July and her cheeks matched it's hue with the
bright flush of excitement as she waited beneath the
fervent shade of an evergreen for the festivities to
   begin.

She heard the steady beating of the drums, begin to
pattern, at first in low, sleepy tones, but then as the
procession drew closet it erupted, followed by the melodic
notes of fiddles, whistles, and mandolins. Then all at once
she could see them all, their brightly colored garnments
flowing together in one great ocean. All stepping to their
own unsteady rhythms and frolicking merrily in jest and
ancient custom, renewed.

She marveled at them all in their unique, period costume,
the ladies tossing their flowers to the crowd with
polite curtsies and the gentlemen steadfast on horses and
hearty leather boots. This was like the dream that she
had always envisioned, falling into this black hole to
witness all that had been, the glory, the gaiety, the
emphasis placed so highly on tradition and ceremony. She
could hardly contain her jubilation when the nobility
arose in their elegant array. Hats plumed with bright
ostrich feathers and flirtacious fans flying in the wind.
She wanted to be in the center with them, to have all eyes
on her as she witness golden, auburn, and raven haired
beauties flow so gracefully past her. Then as all had
began in an instance it had ceased and time itself was
a broken grandfather clock. The earth and heaven were at
last one and two spirits collided with a single, locking,
  glance.

He was at the very end, walking slowly with an older
woman of a slight build. They were smiling heartily and
talking amongst one another, the sun beaming down upon
them. She did not notice him at first she was far too busy
admiring the decorations adorning the royal carriage that
had just meandered by but when his head had turned just
ever so slightly toward her she caught a fleeting glimpse
of the deepest shade of blue that she had ever witnessed.

He was dressed rather plainly in tones of autumn. A
widely brimmed hat sat atop his head without a single
adornment or even so much as a band. His brown hair
hung just below the shoulder and was tied back in a thick
band of leather. He was tall and thin with a pleasant
face but not a particularly striking man. In fact she
probably wouldn't have even saw him if it wasn't for his
piercing eyes. There was something about them which seemed
to draw her in.

His head finally turned all the way toward her when the
little old woman next to him turned and smiled at her
with an odd crooked sort of smile. When he saw her he
stopped walking completely and their eyes stood
fixed upon one another as if all else had vanished in a
  thick fog.

When the sky and sea came together, waves crashed into
the sun and bits of falling gold lit the water, the
golden water returned to make a path in the sky so that
the heavens may fall to earth. It was like an ancient
reckoning at once spirits knew one another and hands
touched with just the mere flicker of an eyelash. She
knew and he knew that something had been found just then
a piece to a great puzzle had just been connected,
a key had turned with the great lock of fate. It seemed
like forever that they gazed at one another, until he
was finally pulled along and grew further and further
from her sight. And when the last lock of his hair escaped
her grasp she just looked at the ground and smiled, she
knew that she would probably never see him again but she
also knew that she had been changed forever somehow and
she would never forget the moment their spirits held each
other, the moment she felt whole.....
