Drift II (Ashore)

Sometimes
It is worn out
And faded
And tired
Broken
And convinced
Of Its own defeat

Somewhere
It is struggling
With grace
With pain
With this shell,
This contradiction
Faded and rusty
From age,
With Itself
(jaded still
somehow
despite
endless days
in repair)

Someone:
That breathes
That believes
That smiles
Deeply,
Sincerely
And moves
With grace
With life
Desire
And placidity
With genuineness
With something
With every thing
That one could look for
Or want
Or need
:Moved near

and empathy
manifested
so rapidly
in a carnal form)

So maybe
You
Could stay here
By the fire
With
Me
And bless me
With another smile
(You could forgive
my iniquities
my deformities,
my inadequacy
and let chance
determine
what the morning
shall bring)
And understanding
Might
Come to me
Briefly
But long enough
For me
To be
Satisfied
Though
I remain
undeserving
Of this miracle
That is
You
